“All the bits and pieces” (2020-21, Work in Progress)

When I finish working on a mosaic, my table is covered with too many bits and pieces of tile and stone to sort back into their containers. Instead, I sweep them all into large jars for “someday.” For this mosaic, I poured out the scraps from one jar and challenged myself to use each piece as I randomly pulled it out of the pile. No cutting tile, no moving pieces around, no overthinking. Just simple lines and intuition! Moroccan earthenware tile, stone, concrete, brick, thinset.
